Into the third week
Had my second week in clinic last week, and I’m now into the third week. Clinic is pretty exciting, though it’s stressful at the same time – mostly just getting used to the flow of things, trying to put all the signs and symptoms together to come up with a worthwhile diagnosis, and then from there a treatment plan that manages to simply and effectively treat both the current issues and the underlying ones. I’m not exactly where I’d like to be, but I’m probably about where I’m supposed to be, and (very fortunately) I’ve got great supervisors looking out for me, helping me think through cases, looking both at details and at big picture stuff all at once.
It’s been a busy week and a half though. I’m working part time, helping out with some article editing, and trying to study for classes, all while doing my best to stay on top of what’s going on with my patients. It’s exciting and I’m really enjoying every aspect of it, but I’m also a little bit wiped out – but early-semester stress should probably stabilize to a more normal rhythm soon, so that’s a good thing.
I’ve got all the patients I can handle just now, but as people come and go, I’ll be looking to reach out again for new folks to work with. As always, if you’re interested in setting up an appointment, please get in touch – if I don’t have space in my schedule, I’ll do my best to find a good fit for you with someone who does!
